California Adventure

On October 30 I got to skip class and go to California Adventure with the other renaissance kids at TMS. It was so much fun!!! My friend Corinne and I got on every ride, with almost no lines (the longest we had to wait was 10 minutes) we even had time to go to the golden screams award show where my scream got applause.
After lunch we met up with some of our other friends; Courtney, Grace, Lyric, and Megan who are in our choir class and re-rode some rides with them including Tower of Terror, Grizzly bear gulch and Monsters Inc. and went shopping.
It was especially fun because everything decorated for Halloween.

Hearst Castle and San Simeon

If you have never been to Hearst Castle in
San Simeon, it is worth the trip. It was amazing,
especially if you are an art aficianado. William
Randolph Hearst the Newspaper Tycoon, built
a castle and filled it with art from the mediterranean
some of it from ancient Egypt, over 4000 years old.
The girls are by the outdoor pool of the estate.

Also in San Simeon is a resting ground/mating
ground of elephant seals. We could have watched
them for hours, if we didn't get so cold. Over
4,000 baby elephant seals were born here this year.
They then migrate up to Alaska. They travel back
and forth two times a year.

Limekiln State Park & Ragged Point

This is Ragged Point where you can see the
huge cliffs that meet the ocean. There's no beach
at all, with huge wave crashing against the cliffs.
It's beautiful, but very different than the ocean
we're used to by our house!

Here's the girls, climbing a tree - again - at
Limekiln State Park.
It was about 45 mintues further up the coast. It was a beautiful hike up to a 100 foot waterfall.
The most fun part was crossing the stream 4 times on fallen
logs or rocks. The only one to get wet - - was Dan.

A Dream Come True, Solvang, CA

For 18 years, ever since Dan came home from
his mission from Denmark, Dan has been talking
about visiting Solvang. Solvang is "Little Denmark"
here in the US. It's the only one in the US. We got
to walk on cobblestone streets, see the cute houses
and shops. We even went through a Danish museum
to see some of their culture. But the BEST part had
to be the food. The pastries as you can imagine were
delicous, and even Dan who is a huge pastry snob since
his mission gave it two thumbs up!

Santa Barbara Mission

While on our travels we were able to get Kristina's
big 4th grade project finished. From those of you
not from California, 4th grade is California History, and
all 4th graders do a huge project on the missions. Including
visiting some, making a mission, reports on the missions etc.
Luckily for us, Krissy has the same teacher as Melissa had, so
we knew exactly what we needed to do (even though the assignment
hasn't been given!) This is the Santa Barbara mission also known as
"The Queen of the Missions" . It's the second largest and very
beautiful. All the missions are very unique and interesting to see.

Rocky Nook Park

This was our first stop on our great fire escape.
Rocky Nook in Santa Barbara. There were great
climbing trees, which is a favorite of the girls.

Temecula Fire Sky

Things really heated up this last week for us in Southern California. Dan was unable to go to work as San Diego was on fire. There were serveral fires close to us. The Rosa fire, The Rice Fire, The Witch Fire, and the the Pamoocha Fire. (Which is currently still burning.) We were never evacutated, however we had our car ready to go. Temecula high schools and churches were used as evacuation centers for neighboring areas. The air got really smokey and they cancelled school and Dan's work, so we decided to 'get out of Dodge' as it were and we headed to cleaner and clearer air in central Cali in the Santa Barbara area. Thanks to everyone for all the calls checking up on us!

Puppy Obedience School

This is my PreK class on D is for Doggy Day.
Aren't they cute? They loved having their faces
painted and getting doggy ears and collars.
Alot of moms told me that they had puppies
for the next several days. (Hopefully, they
learned letter D as well.)

Our Cutest Halloween Decoration

We spent the weekend decorating and getting ready for Halloween.
Annie is so excited that on October 1st she went to school all decked out for the holiday.
She even used her Trick or Treat Bag for her books.

Homecoming

Hey Everyone!
Those are pictures of me before the homecoming dance. Homecoming was a really fun experience all together. The game was really fun to cheer at along with all the other cheer teams. Our team won 48 to 19 so after the game we all went to Pizza Factory to celebrate. Before the dance on Saturday, we went to KOHLS to find some jewelry when a lady asked if I wanted my makeup done. I loved it! You can only see it if you click on a picture to make it bigger. :) The dance was sooo fun too. I went with five other girls to outback before the dance and went back after the dance. It was really fun to be crazy with all the girls. The best part was seeing everyone I knew all dressed up.

Annie Section

Annie wants to talk to everyone so here she is..................

A few days ago Brady ecscaped because Krissy acxsadently left his cage open.We looked and looked. Finally Missy decided to go the bathroom and she found him in the their in a giant peanut pile.

The Game

The game was super fun!!!!! We got to stand on fun little boxes, and I'm sure we cheered like every two minutes! Even though we lost I'm looking forward to the next one!
Go Wolfpack!!!!!

GO GREAT OAK HIGH SCHOOL! This is a picture of Jessica cheering at her first high school game on Thursday of this last week. She had a great time, even though Great Oak lost by an extra point!

This is a movie of the half-time routine they performed. They are in a W for Wolfpack. Jessie is on the far right. She is easiest to spot during the tumbling. She's the tumbler just to the right of center and then the one front and center at the end of the routine.

This artwork was done by Kristina this week in her art class.
It was done in pastels.

Escape of the Rat Guy

This is 'Rat Guy' Brady the hamster. Recently Brady made a great escape from his cage in the middle of the night when Krissy accidentally left the door open. Brady was very industrious during his escape. He was discovered hiding in a corner with a pile of four peanuts he had found somewhere.

Golf Project

This is my 3D golf simulation. It is a virtual golf course you can walk around in, rendered in realtime by my program. We are currently displaying this on a 12 foot screen, and then you can hit balls into the screen and then watch as a 'virtual' version of the ball continues into the world. I have done all the physics calculations so the ball bounces and rolls realistically. Right now we are perfecting the driving range, but soon we will be modeling many real world golf courses which can be played in the simulator. The screen above is still work in progress but coming along nicely.

Hi from Missy

Hi everybody. You will always be able to tell if it is from me because I will type in color almost every time or sign my name. Well not much is happening with me right now, except getting adjusted in middle school. Well I have to go.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous first or second week of school
Missy

MOM'S BRAG SPOT

Way to go Missy! Missy tested out of 6th grade math and went on to 7th grade Pre-Algebra. The best part - the second day in the class, she aced the test her new class was taking!

Lunar eclipse observed by some, causes strange sleepwalking behavior in others...

Dad decided to see if anyone wanted to see the lunar eclipse at 2:52 am. Krissy, Missy and Annie wanted to see it so Dad woke them up. Krissy stayed awake long enough to see the eclipse. Missy was sleepwalking and said she saw the eclipse but then she went back in the house and took a shower and was found sitting with a towel on her head before being sent back to bed. Annie said the moon was too bright to look at and went back to bed.
Krissy and Dad survived long enough to see the full eclipse and take this great picture with Mommy's new camera.

The Girls (update)

Annie was up to a lot of gymnastics this summer. She went several times a week and absolutely loves it! Even though gymnastics is her favorite hobby over the summer she found another one.... catching grasshoppers. She can make the little guys do whatever she wants. And seems to be a talented grasshopper whisperer. Annie has currently started 2nd grade and is very pleased to be in a second/third grade split.

Krissy is still playing piano, doing art, and being her funny little self! In piano she is playing Beauty and the Beast. And her art is still fabulous! She is still obsessed with pigs and her collection grows on, bigger and bigger. Krissy is going into 4th grade and likes being considered a "big timberwolf"

Missy is still a wonderful dancer and mathematician. Missy is going on to point and really enjoys lyrical and jazz. She got tested and hopes to be in 7th grade math even though shes a 6th grader. Shes enjoying middle school and likes all of her many teachers. She loves her koalas and continues her collection.

As for me, Jessie, I am enjoying being in high school except for the fact that I am a baby again. I like my cheer teams ( varsity competition and freshmen). And I am excited to cheer at football games on my box! I loved my summer filled with Efy and other camps. I still love frogs and green and being a high schooler!

Look at this nifty playground......

Why chop down trees....The new thing is playgrounds! As the play set started to age Dad decided it needed to go! We all gathered around on a Saturday afternoon to see him tear the thing down. He got down his ax and started chop chop chopping away! To Dad it might have been "serious work" but to the girls it was pure entertainment!

After he destroyed the old playground he went to work on a new and improved version. It was a lot of work. Here it is.

It was raining, so they had to play in the rain...

Jessie is acting silly as Annie slides with glee
